MRF Limited (MRF) is an Indian multinational and the largest manufacturer of tyres in India and the fourteenth largest manufacturer in the world. It is headquartered in Chennai, India. The company manufactures rubber products including tyres, treads, tubes and conveyor belts, paints and toys.

SIMS visited Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company on 29/11/2019

Students are given periodic assignments on industry related issues. They are also provided with an opportunity to conduct an organisational study through a systematic process of interaction and field visits. Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company is one of the largest employee-owned tea company in the world located at Kannan Devan Hills,Munnar, Idukki.Carrying forward a lineage that dates back over 136 years to the British Colonial Raj era, the Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company Private Limited (KDHP) succeeded Tata Tea Limited on 1st April, 2005, when the latter exited most of its plantations in Munnar to focus on the growth of its branded tea business. During the year 2004-2005, owing to the general crisis prevalent in the tea industry at the time, Tata Tea Ltd restructured and came up with a proposal to transfer its holdings in the Kanan Devan Hills Village. Then Kanan Devan Hills Plantations Company was formed, making it the largest employee-owned tea company in the world.

SIMS visited Aqua Star on 07/03/2020

Students are given periodic assignments on industry related issues. They are also provided with an opportunity to conduct an organisational study through a systematic process of interaction and field visits. The students of Second Semester MBA at SIMS were taken for an industrial visit to the production plant of M/s Aquaguard at Mundathikkode near Wadakkanchery in Thrissur Dt. Aquastar is a leading producer of rainwater gutters made from virgin uPVC and enjoys the position as the market leader of the product as they are the first to introduce it. The team reached Aquastar plant by 10 am and spent almost 3 hours in the plan to understand the production process of rainwater gutters, moulds, etc. Mr.Joy, Manager, and Mr. Ranjith, Production Engineers explained the entire process to the group. PVC powder is melt in high temperature and the melted powder is passed through the predesigned moulds to get the desired product. It is all machining process and human intervention is comparatively lesser.The student group understood the entire process and clarified their doubts in the process and all aspects related to production, finance, HR, and Marketing. It was indeed a live experience for the student group.
